Sermon Outline

FOUNDATION SCRIPTURE: Acts 1:4-8

4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me;
5 "for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."
6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"
7 And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.
8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
(NKJ)
1. WHERE IS THE REVIVAL? HEALING, DELIVERANCE, PROSPERITY THAT HAS BEEN PROPHESIED?
A. Acts 1:4-8 Jesus' last instruction for the Church: WAIT FOR THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!

B. IT IS NOT FOR YOU TO KNOW TIMES OR SEASONS!

C. BUT YOU SHALL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES UPON YOU AND YOU SHALL BE WITNESSES TO ME!

D. WE ARE NOT EVENT DRIVEN BUT SPIRIT DRIVEN!

2. Luke 17:20-25 Kingdom doesn't come with Observation... for the kingdom of God is within you!
20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God does not come with observation;
21 "nor will they say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you."
22 Then He said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
23 "And they will say to you, 'Look here!' or 'Look there!' Do not go after them or follow them.
24 "For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.
25 "But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation."
(NKJ)

A. We want dates, signs - to satisfy the lust of the flesh!

B. Don't follow those who say, "Look here!" Jesus: "A WICKED GENERATION SEEKS AFTER SIGNS!" CHRISTIANS ARE TO BE LED OF THE SPIRIT!

C. HE WILL BE AS LIGHTENING! Where does it start and where does it end? We don't know! Does lightening originate from the sky or the ground?

D. BUT FIRST!!!!

E. BUT FIRST HE MUST SUFFER AND BE REJECTED!

F. CRUCIFIXION PRECEDES RESURRECTION!

3. REVIVAL STARTS IN YOUR HEART!
A. Jesus told Nicodemas, "YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!"
4. SEEDS OF REVIVAL ARE PRESENT! Those seeds are in people, churches, and pastors. WHO WILL WATER THEM?
A. Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-- meditate on these things."

B. Revelation 12:10-11 "Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death."

5. Mark 4:14-20
14 "The sower sows the word.
15 "And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
16 "These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
17 "and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word's sake, immediately they stumble.
18 "Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word,
19 "and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
20 "But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred."
(NKJ)

A. Mark 4:24 "Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you USE, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, MORE will be given."

B. IF YOU WON'T USE IT YOU WILL LOSE IT!

C. Elisha asked the widow - "WHAT DO YOU HAVE?"

D. Peter and John told the lame man - "I do not have silver or gold, but what I do have I give you.. Rise and walk!"

E. YOU HAVE TO POUR OUT WHAT YOU HAVE! PUT WHAT YOU HAVE TO WORK! You may say "I only have a little faith!" Put the faith you have to work!

F. Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." (NKJ)

G. Do not despise small beginnings!

6. THE SEED IS IN YOU!
A. HOW DO YOU GET THE SEED?
1) Romans 10:17 "FAITH COMES BY HEARING AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD!"
2) John 3:3-8 YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!
3) Acts 1:7-8 YOU MUST WAIT FOR THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!
B. THE SEED MUST BE PLANTED AND WATERED!
7. Work of the Spirit MUST precede revival:
A. John 16:8, tells us the work of the Holy Spirit is: conviction of sin, righteousness (there is none righteous, no not one), and judgment. THESE ARE TO CONVICT THE WORLD!
8. SEEDS OF REVIVAL!
A. Colossians 1:27 "To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (NKJ) THIS IS THE SEED OF REVIVAL: CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY!

B. 2 Timothy 2:20-21 "But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." (NKJ) CHRIST POURING THROUGH YOU MAKES YOU A LIVING SACRIFICE, A WITNESS! THERE MUST BE A DYING TO SELF AND LIVING FOR CHRIST!

C. Galatians 5:22-25 CHRIST PRODUCED FRUIT REVEALS A LIFE TRANSFORMED!

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
(NKJ)

9. Romans 10:6-11
6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down from above)
7 or, " 'Who will descend into the abyss?' " (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
(NKJ)

A. FAITH DOES NOT SAY: who will go up/down to bring Christ to us?

B. FAITH SPEAKS THIS WAY: The Word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart!

C. IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART AND SPEAK WITH YOUR MOUTH YOU WILL BE SAVED! FOR WHOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM, JESUS CHRIST, SHALL BE SAVED!
