A Man Without A Country
February 14, 2002
John Walker Lindh left America in a search for identity. With his parents blessings and financial help, he sought out the Moslem religion. He joined with a “radical
sect” believing them to be the truest form of the Islam religion. In this process John Walker Lindh tossed aside his “American” beliefs of personal freedom, equality of women, and “capitalism.” He threw away a morality based upon the dignity of human life which in America and Western Culture is based upon the Judeo-Christian concept that all people are created in the image of God. He also rejected his American citizenship, aligning himself with those who seek the total destruction of America and Western Civilization. He turned his back upon his own people, culture, and God.
Part of his defense will be that he was young, idealistic and easily swayed by those who radiated a strong sense of purpose and will. This “brainwashing” however must have started before he left for his quest of true Islam. His emotions and direction were obviously well advanced when he left his American home for the Moslem world.
All of that aside. I feel sorry for John Walker Lindh. He obviously has rebuilt his life in a fashion which he sought. The problem for John Walker
Lindh, is that he was captured and brought back to America, and now his ideals seem less clear. As he stood before the court and declared himself “Not guilty,” of the charges of conspiring to kill U.S. Citizens in Afghanistan, he again abandoned his recently held ideals.
Think about it, in pleading “Not guilty,” John Walker Lindh turned his back on the very cause for which he fought, and on those he fought with, those that were once his close friends. I haven’t seen any outrage from John Walker Lindh in being separated from his comrades in arms who continue to die on the battlefield for their cause. I haven’t heard him say he doesn’t belong in the courts of America, and should be immediately returned to Afghanistan to stand with his brothers in arms. He has turned his back on his own people again.
John Walker Lindh has abandoned the Islamic Culture. Allowing his parents and their lawyers to drag him back into the American legal system and culture he is abandoning the culture and laws of Islam. He should declare that the U.S. has no authority over him. He should have the conviction to denounce his American citizenship. He should demand a trial before his newly accepted peers! He doesn’t want a trial in a Moslem country. They have no concept of mercy! He knows it well. If he stays in Afghanistan he will surely be executed, so he allows himself to be drug back to the America he has rejected.
John Walker Lindh has denied Allah! He was fighting a holy jihad, a war against infidels, a war sanctioned and ordered by Allah himself. If this was his belief he has turned his back on Allah himself. If he would return to his Afghanistan friends, they would have to kill him as a defector, for he has committed the unforgivable, he has denied their god.
John Walker Lindh is a man without a country. He has denied two peoples, two cultures, and two gods. Only one God can have mercy toward him, but then he would have to have genuine remorse, which at this point is non-existent.
Pray this prayer right now asking Jesus to come into your heart!
"Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I have not remembered you and I have walked in my own path. I ask you to forgive me, Lord. I believe with my whole heart that You died for my sin of unbelief and I believe You were raised from the dead that I might live in You. Jesus, I invite You into my heart. I receive You as Savior and Lord of my life. Help me to live by faith, daily trusting in You for guidance and direction in every area of my life. By faith I am a new creature in Jesus Christ. The old man is dead and I now live by faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you Jesus for coming into my life and making me whole today! Amen!"
